Privileged or Qualified: Which one are you?”

 In Blog

Don’t you agree that some of us are ‘Privileged’ ! We could buy our own shelter and have air-conditioned bedroom, a car for moving around, can afford to eat in restaurants, watch movie, fly in airways, be privileged customer, kids in best schools, holidays, fun and so on.

I believe this is not because we are ‘Qualified’ for all these, but we have been fortunate enough for having born in the family which could afford an education for us, provide all necessary things to make us stand with our own abilities. Even if there are exceptions to this, these are made by people with deep human values who supported and made some lives.

I have always believed that, when you plant a tree and grow it well, you alone can not claim your rights over its growth. Nature or environment contributes to its growth, people around you who looked after it in your absence sometimes and more fundamentally the plant itself which could sustain and grow well on its innate strength. Otherwise many a times, even if you plant and water for long some plants don’t grow at all, they die early!

This analogy clarifies me very clearly that if you are ‘Privileged’ with life, you have all material matters that give you comfort living and esteems of life then its not because its your right or you are qualified for it, rather you have been fortunate enough that this nature, environment, people and ecosystem around you made you capable to earn and use some of these privileged’s.

On a recent past weekend, I spent few hours with children’s that are affected by HIV through their parents who have not survived anymore. I met a couple that has taken an initiative to raise 17 such kids who have been disowned by their close once. This couple has gone beyond all day to day attractions of life and is committed to live their life for rehabilitation of HIV affected children’s.

My wife and kids joined me on the day. We contributed our bit and shared gifts and food with children’s. Few of my friends also contributed to this cause and we could collectively handover some funds to the founder that may help them for medicines and school expenses.

I salute for the courage shown by a couple and I stand by for this deep human value of simply ‘CARING”.

To conclude, we earn nothing on our own, people around us contribute a lot to our making. “if you have more than enough for your survival, share it with others who are at disadvantage”. Don’t worry, you will not become poor if you share !!

I believe, we are ‘Privileged’ to have more than enough…not ‘Qualified’!
